Modern Life: A Unique Blend of American Urban and European Classical Styles

Creating a Modern Light Luxury Image in Residential Spaces

This project, designed by Wang Yu Chih, draws inspiration from American urban style and European new classical style, resulting in a unique and visually stunning residential space. By combining functionality with artistic materials, the designer has successfully visualized a modern light luxury image.

The Modern Life project stands out with its deep cultural influences from the early European immigration period. Wang Yu Chih has explored various art vocabularies and styles, resulting in a unique blend of classic aesthetics. This fusion of European cultures creates a distinctive and captivating design.

The realization of this design is achieved through the use of open and semi-open spaces, enhancing visual permeability. The entrance is adorned with elegant colors and jointing, creating a welcoming and sophisticated ambiance. The living room features a symbolic fireplace and symmetrical book walls, adding a cozy touch to the space.

The use of iron and designed glass partitions serves as a link between the living room and the study room, extending the space and promoting interaction. This thoughtful design allows for a seamless flow between different areas of the residence.

The Modern Life project spans across 182 square feet and showcases the designer's attention to detail and technical expertise. The combination of American urban style, eco-friendly materials, a half-height entrance wall, and Art Deco elements contribute to the overall aesthetic and functionality of the design.

In terms of functionality, the dining area and kitchen play a vital role in American-style designs. The sliding door design allows for the area to be transformed into an open space or divided into an independent one, providing flexibility and a sense of spaciousness. This design also enables the hostess to interact with family members while cooking, fostering a closer bond.

The project, which began in October 2019 and was completed in January 2020 in Taiwan, incorporates eco-friendly materials such as zero formaldehyde oak wood flooring. This choice not only enhances the overall healthiness of the space but also reflects the designer's commitment to environmental consciousness.

One of the main challenges of this project was to prioritize the tenants' mental expression over the details of the space itself. The half-height entrance wall, clear glass partition, and open dining area were all carefully designed to maintain visual permeability and encourage interactions between family members.

The use of colors is a highlight of the Modern Life project. The elegant color scheme and jointing in the entrance create a visually pleasing first impression. The symbolic fireplace and symmetrical book walls in the living room add a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The combination of these design elements results in a harmonious and aesthetically pleasing residential space.

The Modern Life project has been recognized for its excellence and innovation. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This prestigious award acknowledges well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The Modern Life project stands as a testament to Wang Yu Chih's ability to integrate industry best practices and technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.
